CMC For Detergent Water soluble cellulose ether

Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was first developed by Germany in 1918 and was granted a patent in 1921. Since then, it has been commercialized in Europe. It was only for crude products and used as a gel and binder. In 1936 and 1941, the industrial application of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was quite active, and several quite illuminating patents were invented. During world war ii, Germany used sodium carboxymethyl cellulose to synthesize detergent. Hercules made the first sodium carboxymethyl cellulose in the United States in 1943 and produced refined carboxymethyl cellulose products in 1946. The product was recognized as safe food

In order to solve the shortage of raw material source, nearly five years together in some scientific research units and enterprises in our country, comprehensive utilization of straw, DeJiaoMian (waste), tofu and other trial production CIVIC successfully, the production cost greatly reduced, such as CMC industrial production has opened up a new source of raw material way _l J. The CIVIC is widely used in petroleum, geological, daily chemical, light industry, food, medicine and other industries because of its excellent water solubility and film-forming properties. In April 1989, the ministry of chemical industry listed the CIVIC as "new domain fine chemicals' 85 'planning products". At present, the research and development of CMC mainly focus on the transformation of existing production technology and the innovation of process, and the synthesis of CMC new products with unique performance.

1. Structural characteristics of CMC

Carboxymethyl cellulose is a water-soluble cellulose ether, which is usually of practical value as its sodium salt. So usually the CMC is the sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.

The CIVIC is usually a kind of anionic macromolecular compound, which is made from natural cellulose and caustic soda and a chloroacetic acid, with a molecular weight of 6, 400 (plus or minus 1, 000). The main products are sodium chloride and sodium glycolate. CMC belongs to natural cellulose. The United Nations food and agriculture organization (FAO) and the world health organization (WHO) have officially called it "modified cellulose" l3J. The main measure of CMC quality is the substitution degree () and viscosity. The properties of CMC are different in general. The greater the substitution, the better the transparency and stability of the solution. The CIVIC was reported to have been replaced at 0, 7 ~ 1. At 2 time, the transparency is better, the viscosity of its aqueous solution is at the pH value of 6 ~ 9. In order to guarantee the quality, in addition to choose etherifying agent, must also consider the some factors influencing the degree of substitution and viscosity, such as alkali and etherifying agent, etherification time and the dosage of the relationship between system author introduction NiuSheng ocean (1976 a), male, zhang ye, gansu province, master degree, teaching assistant, work in the food science teaching and research.
